    Severe thunderstorms are on the way for Canterbury

    Severe thunderstorms are on the way for Canterbury


    MetService says they've been detected near Windwhistle, Hororata, and Highbank.

    They're expected to reach Darfield, Glentunnel, and Sheffield over the next 40 minutes.

    The forecaster says it will be accompanied by very heavy rain, damaging wind gusts and hail.
