Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau is wishing everyone a happy holiday - while looking back on the year

Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau is wishing everyone a happy holiday - while looking back on the year

The capital's first-term Mayor earlier this year admitted a problem with alcohol - following a second alleged incident of her intoxicated in public.

She won her election by a landslide, with a left-wing mandate - a majority which was later replicated by Wellington Central MP, Tamatha Paul, from the Greens.

Tory Whanau says her goal is to improve the 'vibe' of the city.

She says this year there's been decision making, but next year's about construction.
