Concerns electric vehicle drivers may not be prepared for changes to road user charges

The exemption for the vehicles will be removed at the end of March, from when they'll be charged 71 dollars per thousand kilometres.

The Motor Industry Association says drivers may not be aware of the change, if they don't pay attention to government released statements.

Principal Technical Advisor Mark Stockdale says authorities need to get the word out.

He says the Transport Agency should send every electric vehicle owner a letter about the change.
