Work will continue overnight in Kirwee, after a large fire broke out west of Christchurch last night

Work will continue overnight in Kirwee, after a large fire broke out west of Christchurch last night

Two ground crews and a drone crew will monitor the ground to ensure the blaze remains under control.

A pair of helicopters flew until dusk as work to extinguish the fire continued.

Incident Controller Dave Berry says they've made considerable progress in putting it out.

Several crews will be back on the ground tomorrow, supported by aircraft and machinery.
