Fire crews continue to stamp out the remnants of a blaze north of Christchurch - at Glasnevin

Fire crews continue to stamp out the remnants of a blaze north of Christchurch - at Glasnevin

Two ground crews are extinguishing areas of deep-seated burning.

Incident controller Des Irving says both lanes of State Highway One are now open, but motorists should travel with care.

Meanwhile, 50 firefighters are still at the 80-hectare Kirwee fire - 80 kilometres away, with difficult hot spots still not out.

Fire and Emergency are reminding Cantabrians to stay vigilant in the hot and windy weather.
