The one-cap All Whites midfielder played the full 90 minutes in Tuesday's scoreless draw with the second-placed champions, the Central Coast Mariners - despite being on limited minutes since an ankle injury left him unable to train for several weeks.
Phoenix coach Giancarlo Italiano says Old played longer than they thought, but they don't want put him at risk.
Midfielders Nicholas Pennington and Mohamed Al-Taay are also due back from injuries, ahead of today's kickoff at 5:30pm in Wellington.
