A rat-infested Countdown supermarket is staying shut another 24 hours - after finding 13 more rats over the weekend

The Dunedin South store has been closed since Saturday.

Woolworths NZ Stores Director, Jason Stockill says they believe they've sealed all entry points - and there is no evidence of nesting in store.

New Zealand Food Safety deputy director-general, Vincent Arbuckle, says the store won't open until they and the food retailer are satisfied new pest controls have worked.

Food safety officers have also visited Christchurch's Countdown Eastgate today, with Rentokil also closing off entry points there - after video showed a mouse in deli salads last week.
