A silver lining for Henry Nicholls following his demotion from the Black Caps test side

A silver lining for Henry Nicholls following his demotion from the Black Caps test side

The 32-year-old was dropped from the New Zealand squad for the 2-nil series win over South Africa - after managing just 25 runs from two away tests in Bangladesh.

That's despite making a double century in his last home test against Sri Lanka.

Nicholls says he's enjoyed a mentoring role on return at Canterbury.

Canterbury host Auckland in tomorrow's domestic one-day competition decider.

Fast bowler Will O'Rourke's a chance to play - before joining the test squad for the two match series against Australia starting Thursday.
