The Government is being accused of a dictatorship-style disregard for Maori rights

The Government is being accused of a dictatorship-style disregard for Maori rights

Legislation disestablishing the Maori Health Authority is being rushed through Parliament under urgency today.

It means an emergency Waitangi Tribunal appeal challenging the move can't be heard before the amendment passes.

Te Pati Maori co-leader, Rawiri Waititi, says it shows a complete disregard for judicial processes and democracy.

He says the Bill continues to commit Maori to death earlier than anyone else in the country.
