Newshub's closure may be indicative wider pains felt across media

Newshub's closure may be indicative wider pains felt across media

Warner Brothers Discovery is closing Newshub's newsroom and website, after June - blaming financial headwinds and a tough advertising market.

It's proposing to focus on streaming service Three-Now.

Affected staff include presenters of the 6pm news on Three - and tonight's bulletin's expected to air as usual.

Staff left the Auckland Newshub office in tears after the news this morning.

Newshub's Patrick Gower told reporters his colleagues are amazing - and should be proud of everything.

He says otherwise he's not allowed to say anything.
