A man's in custody and Police have launched a homicide invesitgation after a man died in the Far North

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing at a Iwitaua Road property in Mangamuka around nine last night.

Police say a 50-year-old man's been arrested and is assisting them with their inquiries.

They say it appears to be an isolated incident and they'll have an increased presence in the area while a scene examination's completed.

Police will release details of the deceased in due course, and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
