Booking a hut on the Milford Track is set to be just under a three-figure fee

Booking a hut on the Milford Track is set to be just under a three-figure fee

The Department of Conservation is raising all Great Walk huts and campsite prices by 18 percent from July.

Paparoa will increase by six percent.

It means a hut on the Milford Track will be 92-dollars in peak season, while camping on the Abel Tasman is 19-dollars.

Backpacker Youth Adventure Tourism Association chair Haydn Marriner says there are still gaps in the funding.

He says people are only paying for certain DOC facilities - as things like walking the Tongariro Crossing is free.
