Vanessa Lachey's nine-year-old daughter is helping the TV star to organise her anniversary celebrations

The 43-year-old beauty and Nick Lachey will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary in July, and their nine-year-old daughter Brooklyn is determined that they make the most of the occasion

Vanessa - who also has Camden, 11, and Phoenix, seven, with Nick - told PEOPLE: "She asked when I went back to work, and I said, 'End of June.' She goes, 'But your anniversary is July 13. She's like, 'And it's your lucky number, it's your golden anniversary.' I was like, 'I know, baby.' She said, 'Well, you have to be with daddy. You guys have to go do something'.

"It was just the sweetest thing that it meant so much to her."

Brooklyn's comments also prompted Vanessa to reflect on her own turbulent childhood.

The 'Love Is Blind' co-host shared: "I remember being her age, and I just remember everything going on with my mom leaving me.

"My mom left me when I was her age. And we talk about that all the time. And honestly, having a nine-year-old daughter, like, I'm going to cry now ... I can't think of ever leaving her.

"So I still will never understand that with my mother, but it really drives me. It drives me in everything I do for [Brooklyn], whether it's work or whether it's personal."

Vanessa is ultimately determined to be the best parent possible for her children.

She said: "I remember being that little girl and needing and craving that guidance, and that love, and that safe space. So I'm grateful in a weird way that I came out on the other end of it, and I know now what not to do.

"I understand what I want to do, and [Brooklyn] accepts it with open arms and lots of love."
