    A horror 90 minutes on a stretch of road in the South Island...


    Three people died in a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 8 at Pukaki near Twizel around half past one yesterday - the first road deaths this Easter.

    Five others suffered moderate to serious injuries.

    The crash involved two vehicles and a motorcycle and happened between Hayman Road and Tekapo Canal Road.

    The motorcyclist was one of those who died, the other two people were together in one of the cars.

    Not long after, a second three vehicle crash happened on the same road - leaving one person seriously injured.
