    Police have recovered a firearm and made three arrests, after a stolen vehicle with mismatched plates was spotted in the Auckland suburb of Sandringham overnight


    The sedan was seen travelling along Karangahape Road before three this morning.

    The occupants tried fleeing in the vehicle - before coming to a stop on Arabi Street.

    Two passengers, aged 26 and 35, tried to escape on foot but were swiftly taken into custody.

    The driver, aged 39, was arrested a short time later.

    Charges are still being considered.
