A man's been released without incident - after briefly being detained in relation to a fire at a West Auckland home last night

Fire crews responded to the large blaze on Massey's Red Hill Road at about 8:30pm.

Armed Police were called to assist - and multiple patched gang members were seen gathered at the cordon.

The fire was already well involved upon arrival - and sending large plumes of smoke over the area.

It was extinguished around 10:30.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and investigations are continuing this morning.
