Some people going to the hairdressers have been getting more than one form of a fresh cut

New ACC figures show there are up to 30 new claims per year, and more than 20 active claims from people getting injured during a hair cut.

There have been 155 claims for injuries since the start of 2018, costing ACC upward of 28-thousand dollars.

Emergency physician Dr Gary Payinda says some claims could be from lacerations that had become infected, and needed follow-up treatment.

He suspects most claims were seen by GPs, having seen more chemical burns or allergic reactions to colours or treatments in the emergency department.
