A tough result for Police as they turn up nothing in the latest search for missing Gisborne man Joseph Ahuriri

A tough result for Police as they turn up nothing in the latest search for missing Gisborne man Joseph Ahuriri

Yesterday Police searched at the Esk River mouth in Hawke's Bay.

Ahuriri went missing during Cyclone Gabrielle last year in his Toyota Hilux.

The latest search was prompted after a drone survey showed a metal-like object about five metres underground.

Detective Sergeant Alex Simister says it's been tough on those who knew Ahuriri.

He says they're disappointed they haven't found him for his family, but they are hopeful for a resolution.
