Police admit they should've done more for a young woman who was murdered by a man she complained was harassing her

21-year-old AUT law student Farzana Yaqubi was stabbed to death by Kanwarpal Singh in 2022.

She'd made an online report the 30-year-old was threatening, stalking and harassing her eight weeks before her murder.

The independent police watchdog's found the way Police assess allegations of stalking isn't fit-for-purpose and failed to link her complaint with a similar one from another young woman.

Police accept they missed several opportunities for earlier intervention and they should've acted sooner.
