    A man's critically injured after an assault involving a group of young people in Waipukurau late last night


    Detective Senior Sergeant Sally Patrick says the man was assaulted by youths in the middle of an intersection, and possibly hit by a scooter.

    He remains in Hawke's Bay Hospital with head injuries.
