More delays for projects in Christchurch's Cathedral Square, with the future of The Grand now in doubt

More delays for projects in Christchurch's Cathedral Square, with the future of The Grand now in doubt

The plaza - which is the former Chief Post Office - is 80 percent finished, but needs 900-thousand dollars in the next fortnight.

A 25-percent investment stake is an alternate option.

Business Canterbury chief executive Leeann Watson says venues like the Grand are an asset to the city, especially when Te Kaha Stadium is completed.

She says Christchurch has already seen the benefits of having more people in the city - from new flight routes and the return of cruise ships.
