The family of a person critically injured at an Auckland pool says they weren't holding their breath underwater

It's been reported two men -- critically injured after being pulled from a public pool in Newmarket on Saturday -- were deliberately holding their breath.

A family member says their son wasn't practicing freediving - and didn't surface after swimming to touch the bottom of the pool.
