A woman's going to prison for failing to look after her morbidly obese dog, weighing almost 54 kilos

A woman's going to prison for failing to look after her morbidly obese dog, weighing almost 54 kilos

Nuggi was one of multiple dogs removed from the woman's Manurewa property in 2021.

He could barely walk, struggled to breathe and had conjunctivitis, skin tags and overgrown nails.

He lost 8.9 kilograms in SPCA care - but died from an acute haemorrhage in a mass on his liver.

The woman's been sentenced to two months in prison, banned from owning a dog for 12 months - and ordered to pay more than a thousand dollars reparations.
