The fall-out from last week's Abuse in Care inquiry report continues in Dunedin

Prominent lawyer Frazer Barton is taking a leave of absence from Otago University's council, days after taking leave as Law Society president.

Last week's inquiry report revealed Presbyterian Support Otago destroyed records linked to abuse, which Barton says he'd advised they they should be destroyed at the appropriate time.

Barton's President of the Law Society -- and a complaint has been lodged.

A university spokesperson confirms he's taken a leave of absence from his council role, while the issue is before the Law Society.
