A Northland anti-mandate activist has resorted to a hunger-strike, in an effort to further drag out his court case

A Northland anti-mandate activist has resorted to a hunger-strike, in an effort to further drag out his court case

The Herald's Open Justice reports Brad Flutey dodged sentencing in May last year after being found guilty on multiple charges, including assaulting and resisting police, and escaping custody.

A year later he was arrested in Tauranga, but again was absent for sentencing - this time in hospital on a self-induced hunger strike.

His followers say Flutey has not eaten in 57 days while at Springhill prison, has lost 26 kilograms, and is vomiting blood.

They say he wants to end his hunger strike - but is denied the medical attention to do it safety.
