At least 66 people have died in flooding and landslides in Nepal

At least 66 people have died in flooding and landslides in Nepal

Reuters reports most rivers in the Himalayan nation have swollen, spilling over roads and bridges, after torrential downpours across the region.

Most of the deaths took place in the Kathmandu valley home to the country's capital, and 69 people have been reported missing.

Rescue workers are using helicopters and rubber boats to help people stranded on rooftops or elevated ground as some parts of Kathmandu reported over 300 milimetres of rain over the last day.
