One Police boss is hoping to dedicate resources to Auckland's public transport - after a worrying increase in attacks on staff

One Police boss is hoping to dedicate resources to Auckland's public transport - after a worrying increase in attacks on staff

Union member bus drivers are now refusing to question fares, after one man was punched in the face last month when doing so.

The Government has put forward legislation making abuse on public transport an aggravating factor in court.

Police Superintendent Scott Gemmell says the time is fast approaching when police must also do more.

He says the discussion will be on the table to match overseas standard in preparation for the CRL opening.
