Will Young is poised to slot straight into number three in the Black Caps' batting order, with Kane Williamson sitting out at least the first test in India due to injury

Will Young is poised to slot straight into number three in the Black Caps' batting order, with Kane Williamson sitting out at least the first test in India due to injury

The former captain's managing a groin complaint picked up in the second test against Sri Lanka, with uncapped Mark Chapman called in as cover.

But selector Sam Wells says Chapman will have to bide his time.

There's no timeline on Williamson's recovery.

All-rounder Michael Bracewell will travel for the opener before returning home to attend the birth of his second child - he'll be replaced by Ish Sodhi.
