Some Wellington City Council projects may need to be cut, now the city's airport shares sale is OFF the table

Some Wellington City Council projects may need to be cut, now the city's airport shares sale is OFF the table

The council made a u-turn yesterday, voting nine to seven to stop plans to sell off its 34 percent shareholding in Wellington Airport - after a divisive, back and forth process.

Councillor Tony Randle says he only agreed to sell the shares if it kept the millions of dollars as emergency funding.

He says when they saw the Long Term Plan was going to spend this money, he withdrew support.
