New Zealand First supporters are gathering in Hamilton this weekend for the party's annual convention

New Zealand First supporters are gathering in Hamilton this weekend for the party's annual convention

Almost 270 delegates are expected to attend, which is kicking off with an opening speech from leader Winston Peters.

Members will also hear from ministers Casey Costello and Shane Jones, and guest speakers.

They include an Australian senator who opposed the country's Indigenous Voice referendum -- and a Save Women's Sport spokesperson.

Winston Peters will close the convention tomorrow, with a leader's address.
