New Zealand First's Shane Jones has unveiled a proposal to force Marsden Point to store fuel

New Zealand First's Shane Jones has unveiled a proposal to force Marsden Point to store fuel

The party deputy leader has told party faithful he will take the policy to Cabinet for consideration Monday.

Speaking at the annual convention in Hamilton, Mr Jones said he is appalled Labour and the Green klingons applauded the demise of the refinery.

He says it has left New Zealand grossly vulnerable as a small open-trading nation, but there is a future for Marsden Point.

Mr Jones also said plans are imminent to tap into geothermal in New Zealand, to lower energy prices.
