Priyanka Chopra Jonas has hailed Ratan Tata an "inspiration to us all" following the tycoon's death

The Indian business leader - whose Tata Group was involved in a number of high-profile takeovers including Jaguar, Land Rover and Tetley - passed away in hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday (08.10.24) at the age of 86, and the 'Quantico' actress was among those to pay tribute to the tycoon and philanthropist

She wrote on her Instagram Story: "Through your kindness, you touched the lives of millions. Your legacy of leadership and generosity will continue to inspire generations.

"Thank you for your unmatched passion and dedication for everything you did for our country. You have been an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed, Sir."

Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman described the business mogul as a "true son and champion" of India.

He posted on X: "Some icons are living textbooks, teaching us about leadership, success, and legacy. Extraordinary yet human and approachable, they inspire and guide us. India has lost a true son and champion. Rest in peace, Ratan ji."

Singer Diljit Dosanjh paused his concert in Germany to pay tribute to Ratan.

He told the audience: "From all that I've read and learnt about him, I've never seen him speak ill of anyone. He was always helpful and dedicated to doing well for others."

Salman Khan also used X to pay tribute.

He simply wrote: "Deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Ratan Tata."

Actress Anushka Sharma was also "deeply saddened" by the news.

She wrote on her Instagram story, "Deeply saddened by the news of Shri Ratan Tataji. He upheld the values of integrity, grace and dignity through everything he did and was truly an icon and Taj of India. RIP sir, you have touched so many lives."

Following the Tata Group chairman's death, a state funeral took place for the business mogul on Thursday (10.10.24).

Business leaders, politicians and celebrities joined thousands of people paying their respects to Tata as his body lay in state before being cremated.

Maharashtra state dec lared a day of mourning and his coffin was given a military salute as it was taken away for the funeral rituals.
