Christchurch City Council is opening a second round of public consultation, over contentious safety upgrades to Church Corner

Christchurch City Council is opening a second round of public consultation, over contentious safety upgrades to Church Corner

There've been 83 crashes in a decade at the Riccarton, Yaldhurst and Main South Roads junction, putting it in the top three-percent of the city's riskiest intersections.

Councillors were due to decide on changes, but have instead opted to consult the public again, this time asking about installing traffic lights.

Riccarton ward councillor Tyla Harrison-Hunt says the local retirement home has residents who won't even go for a stroll, because they can't safely cross the road.
