Confidence Canterbury University will be able to cope with the growing number of students coming to study each year

Confidence Canterbury University will be able to cope with the growing number of students coming to study each year

The university's experiencing an influx of students, with more than 21-thousand enrolled at the start of the year.

Work to cater for the growth is underway, with new accommodation facility, Tupuarangi, set to open in 2026.

But Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger says it's concerning Canterbury Uni can't house everyone that wants to come here at the moment.

He says an extra thousand people gives the city more buzz - but the university's working as fast as it can.
