Firefighters are dampening down hot spots at the scene of a vegetation fire at Taylors Mistake in Christchurch

Firefighters are dampening down hot spots at the scene of a vegetation fire at Taylors Mistake in Christchurch

They were called just after midnight.

Fire and emergency shift manager Alex Norris says the fire, which is 100 metres long, is on Department of Conservation land.

He says an aircraft is still there working on hot spots, but there's no risk of further spread.

It follows a week of other vegetation fires across Canterbury.
