Significant disruptions for passengers on board a Qantas flight from Christchurch to Melbourne today - forced to turn around en route not just once, but twice

Significant disruptions for passengers on board a Qantas flight from Christchurch to Melbourne today - forced to turn around en route not just once, but twice

Flight QF168 initially returned to the city, after an issue with the pilots' radio.

The plane attempted the trip a second time, but turned around because of an unusual smell in the cabin.

A Qantas spokesperson says engineers are inspecting the aircraft to work out what caused the smell.

Passengers will be re-accommodated on flights via Auckland today.
