US President-elect Donald Trump is promising to vigorously pursue the death penalty when he takes power in January

US President-elect Donald Trump is promising to vigorously pursue the death penalty when he takes power in January

His statement on social media is in response to President Joe Biden's announcement he'd commuted 37 out of 40 federal inmates on death row.

Trump says he will direct the Justice Department to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters.

He restarted federal executions during his first term in office after a nearly 20-year pause.
