    Ecostore has revealed a safety spend worth hundreds of millions of dollars, after a worker suffered chemical burns


    A worker was making dishwasher powder in 2023, when hazardous liquid sprayed into the air at the company's Pakuranga factory.

    He has permanent eye damage.

    WorkSafe blamed a lack of PPE and emergency management.

    Ecostore has since committed to better CCTV, a new working platform for liquids, and other improvements to health, safety, and support - including working with Blind Low Vision to support visually-impaired employees.

    WorkSafe says its pleased to see Ecostore putting things right.
