Good news for dairy farmers - not so good for everyone else

Infometrics's latest Grocery Supplier Cost Index shows annual supermarket cost inflation reached 2.2 percent in December, up slightly from 2.1 the month before.

Chilled goods like milk have increased more than normal for this time of year.

Principal Economist Brad Olsen says that's a reflection of global dairy prices recovering during the latter part of last year.

Cocoa and cooking oils are also more expensive.
