Inflation has eased, but the price of many household essentials continues to rise

The latest Infometrics Grocery Supplier Cost Index shows annual supermarket cost inflation reached 2.2 percent in December.

Cocoa and cooking oils are becoming pricier, due to low production and the weak Kiwi dollar.

Principal Economist Brad Olsen says dairy goods are also getting more expensive, due to global prices.

He says that'll be unwelcome news at the supermarket, and shows we aren't completely done with higher price rises.
