Another pilot whale has died in Golden Bay, following four days of re-floating efforts by volunteers

Another pilot whale has died in Golden Bay, following four days of re-floating efforts by volunteers

Two pods which beached near Farewell Spit since Saturday, have now been successfully re-floated.

Three whales died from the first pod of around 30, while another died from the second pod of 11 yesterday.

The Department of Conservation says there are currently no live whales on the beach, but suspect last night's refloat may not be successful if it follows the pattern of previous days.

It's anticipating some dead whales will wash up along the coast - and ask people to leave them alone.
