Hopes the costs of running a national minor health conditions service will provide greater incentive to roll it out

Hopes the costs of running a national minor health conditions service will provide greater incentive to roll it out

The Pharmaceutical Society says the service -- where pharmacies provide consultations and treatments -- would improve access and care for those who can't access a GP.

It says the scheme -- which it successfully piloted in 10 districts -- would cost around 33-million-dollars a year.

President Michael Hammond, says that's a small investment in the overall health budget.

He says it'll take off huge pressures on GPs and potentially emergency departments, which will have a positive ripple effect in the sector.
