Warwick Davis learned he was getting the BAFTA Fellowship while on the toilet

The 55-year-old actor has had a prolific career spanning over four decades and is renowned for his roles in major film franchises including 'Star Wars', 'Harry Potter' and 'Willow', and on Sunday (16.02.25) will pick up the prestigious award at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall, London

Reflecting on the moment he received the news after arriving on the red carpet for the event, Warwick said: "I was actually on the toilet reading my emails and received one from BAFTA, with a letter attached, saying: 'You've been awarded a fellowship.'

"I was excited but thought, 'Hang on, it could be a scam', so I checked the email address it came from, and it was indeed a BAFTA email address.

"Then I got very excited and jumped off the loo and ran around the house telling the kids and the dog."

Beyond his acting achievements, Warwick has been a vocal advocate for inclusivity and representation in the entertainment industry.

He was born with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare bone disorder resulting in dwarfism.

Warwick added he hoped him receiving the BAFTA fellowship also acknowledged both his performance work and his activism, stating: "If I can have a sneaky bit of this BAFTA for my performance work as well as my advocacy, I'd be delighted."

The 2025 BAFTA Film Awards sees 'Conclave' leading with 12 nominations, followed by 'Emilia Pérez' with 11 and 'The Brutalist' with nine.

Notable acting nominations included Cynthia Erivo, 38, for her role in 'Wicked', Demi Moore, 62, for 'The Substance' and Timothée Chalamet, 29, for 'A Complete Unknown'.

Selena Gomez, 32, received her first BAFTA nomination for supporting actress in 'Emilia Pérez'. Expressing her excitement, she said: "It's an honour to be recognised among such talented individuals."
