Three men are in custody, after trying to force a member of a public to be a getaway driver, in South Auckland

Police allege the three fled with two sports cars from a Flat Bush address about 9am.

One man was arrested when he abandoned the first car in Otara, and the second continued south to Manurewa, with two gang associates inside.

They abandoned it near Hunters Corner and got into a woman's vehicle - but were caught by Police before making her drive away.

Charges are being considered for the three men, all in their 40s.
