The door is ajar for Kalyn Ponga to play rugby union in New Zealand

The door is ajar for Kalyn Ponga to play rugby union in New Zealand

The Newcastle Knights NRL fullback's future jersey options have been under heavy speculation with suggestions he could try make himself available to play for the Kiwis after previous appearances for Queensland.

The rugby union rumour mill has also suggested he could head to Super Rugby - despite being contracted with the Knights until 2027.

However, New Zealand Rugby boss Mark Robinson has told Newstalk ZB's Rugby Direct podcast alongside All Blacks coach Scott Robertson - that he's unaware of any contract discussions with Ponga.
