Retailers are feeling positive heading into the holiday season, as Kiwis across the country, spend more

Retailers are feeling positive heading into the holiday season, as Kiwis across the country, spend more

Stats NZ data shows the total volume of sales increased 1.9 percent in the September quarter - equalling more than 470-million dollars.

Spending was up in 14 regions, with Nelson seeing the biggest boost at 3.3 percent, followed by Southland and Wellington.

Retail NZ CEO Carolyn Young says it could be the start of a more upwards trend.

She says it could be an indication the Reserve Bank's cuts to the Official Cash Rate are having a positive impact on consumers.
