Breakers coach Petteri Koponen believes their willingness to compete was the catalyst for a drought-breaking win in basketball's NBL

Their 81-80 overtime win over Tasmania in Hobart came on the back of three straight losses.

Koponen says a lift in energy made all the difference.

The New Zealand club remain seventh - one spot outside the playoff spots.
