Signs the economy is gaining momentum after a tough stretch

Signs the economy is gaining momentum after a tough stretch

Westpac's February Economic Overview shows growth lifted to 1.8 percent last year and is expected to accelerate to 3.3 percent this year.

Business and consumer confidence have also surged.

Chief Economist Kelly Eckhold says the global outlook's increasingly robust, despite last year's tariff and geopolitical concerns.

He says that's good news for our external sector and exporters - which is reflected in strong commodity prices in the agriculture sector.
