    Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Sunday 16-Jun-2024 by MetService

    Situation:
    A broad, complex low stays slow-moving over the Tasman Sea, and associated troughs and fronts affect the country. A broad low pressure system remains slow-moving to the west of New Zealand through to Thursday, and directs east to northeast flow to much of the country. A ridge should build to the southeast of the South Island from late Tuesday to Wednesday.

    Forecast issued at 1642hrs Sunday 16-Jun-2024
    Valid to 8 pm Sunday for Inshore waters from Pukerua Bay to Makara Beach.
    Sunday: Northerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots. Easing to northeast 15 knots this evening. Moderate sea easing this evening. Mostly cloudy. Poor visibility in showers and possible thunderstorms, easing this evening. Northwest swell about 1 metre.
    Monday: Northeast 15 knots, becoming southeast 10 knots in the morning, turning southwest 10 knots in the afternoon. Rising to southerly 20 knots in the evening. Sea becoming moderate in the evening. Cloudy. Poor visibility in rain developing early, clearing in the evening. Northwest swell 1 metre, easing to half a metre.

    Outlook until midnight Thursday:
    Tuesday: Southerly 20 knots. Fine, becoming cloudy later. Northwest swell half
    a metre. Southwest swell half a metre developing.
    Wednesday: Southeast 20 knots, easing to 15 knots late. Cloud clearing.
    Northwest swell half a metre dying out. Southwest swell half a metre
    dying out.
    Thursday: Southeast 15 knots, easing to 10 knots early. Partly cloudy.
