    A woman is suffering from serious injuries after an alleged kidnapping in Palmerston North on Wednesday


    She was forced into a car in the Fitzherbert Avenue area around 7am, by a man who she knew.

    Police say as the offender drove to Marton, the woman was physically assaulted before managing to escape the vehicle to seek help.

    The man fled before being arrested in Feilding later in the day, and appeared in the Palmerston North District Court yesterday charged with kidnapping.

    Police want to hear from anyone who saw a brown 2004 Kia Rio hatchback in Palmerston North's Pacific Drive area on Wednesday morning.
